Canton Kayak Club

With the help of I’d rather create, I redesigned the Canton Kayak Club’s website with a full visual rebrand and improved functionality to better serve its growing membership.

When I started working with Canton Kayak Club, they were already doing meaningful work: slowly expanding access to the outdoors across central Maryland through an affordable, community-driven kayak share program. What they didn't have was a digital presence that matched that energy. Their membership tracking ran through spreadsheets, their website felt dated, and their members had to work too hard to find basic information like dock locations and weather conditions.

My goal was to change that without losing what made CKC feel like CKC: welcoming, accessible, and rooted in community.

What I focused on

  • Membership management: I set up MemberPress with customized subscription flows for new members, returning members, and gift memberships, so renewals became something members barely had to think about.

  • Dock and weather access: I embedded live NOAA National Weather Service forecasts for each docking station, tucked neatly into a dropdown so the pages stayed clean. A mobile-friendly button made sure the info was always one tap away.

  • Visual rebrand: I delivered a full redesign that leaned into CKC's values of accessibility, diversity, and outdoor community, with a fresh look that finally matched the heart of the organization.

The redesign didn't just make things look better. It genuinely lightened the load for their volunteer team, improved the experience for members, and gave CKC a digital home worthy of their mission.
